The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Exactly this photo made me to read this book and I was longing for purchasing this book with the very cover but, unfortunately, I found in one site that had no shipping to Baku.                    So decided to get over the ePub. The most covers were the poster of the film like

Well, the book is about the life of a 16-years-old guy - Charlie who is studying at school. The whole story takes place in 1992 and has being written like letters to an unknown friend to read by Charlie. Periodically, he is revealling all his feelings and relations towards his family members, relatives, friends, school-mates, teachers, books and so on.
While reading I had a feeling of reminiscence with "The Catcher in the Rye" as it was book of a young boy either.
Nowadays the teenliterature is becoming a tendency which expresses not only the simple childish issues but also the adult problems through the teen's eye.

The book is very rich with the names of the movies, songs and books that Charlie is regularly reading on his teacher - Bill's advice who believes Charlie being a specially bright schooler with extra-ordinary skills. Charlie's comments on the books are really very interesting and makes a person to read 'em too.
So, I would also read Fitzgerald's "This Side of Paradise" and Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead".

And my most favourite quote from the book is "Try to be a filter not a sponge". This was Bill's advice to Charlie when he gave him "The Fountainhead" to read.

Finally, I will conclude this review with the quote by Charlie when he compares the children starving in China and the upset kids. Here is how he sees it

As seen above the book was screened and the screenplay was adopted and the film was directed by the writer of the book Stephen Chbosky himself and released in 2012.

Stephen Chbosky and wife at the premiere of THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome, Hollywood, California, September 10, 2012.

Stephen was nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay category for the 2013 Writers Guild Award and the film won the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards for Best First Feature, and the 2013 People's Choice Award for Best Dramatic Movie as well. Gotta watch the film :)
